GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that it is porting its Puzzle & Dragons mobile megahit to the Nintendo DS handheld console.
The console version of this game will be called Puzzle & Dragons Z. The release will take place this year.
We have repeatedly talked about the success of this title, especially in the Japanese market, where it generates about $ 2.5 million daily at the expense of IAP, and its total revenue is already approaching $ 1 billion. According to the latest data, the number of users has exceeded 12 million.
I wonder how the creators of the game are going to monetize its console version? After all, the mobile version works within the framework of the free-to-play model, and products for 3DS usually have a fixed price ($30-40 at retail, cheaper in the online eShop store), and microtransactions are extremely rare. There have been no clarifications on this from GungHo yet.
By the way, in the 3DS version there will be 200 “collectible” monsters, each of which affects the nature of the gameplay. Other new features are also promised.
