Last night there was a large-scale malfunction of iCloud, during which a warning hung on the official Apple website to users about the impossibility of using any iCloud services other than Mail and iChat.

In total, it affected 8% or about 15.2 million users. This is the largest failure of the iCloud service since the launch of the cloud service.

Users noted that, in addition to mail, the App Store, iMessage and partially FaceTime did not work. However, the problem was solved fairly quickly, with the exception of restoring Documents to the cloud.

Perhaps such a large-scale failure is associated with Hurricane Sandy and local power outages of data centers. This is the second failure in the current month.
