The other day, Mozilla Corporation announced two of its own smartphones running on Firefox OS. Both models are demo models and were created specifically for mobile software developers.
The devices were developed by Geeksphone together with Telefonica. They will be available to developers this February. Mozilla hopes that developers, having got acquainted with these smartphones, will want to develop applications for them.
Peak, conditionally, is the flagship of the new line. This is a medium-sized smartphone with a 4.3-inch screen on an IPS matrix, a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera and an 1800 mAh battery.
Keon is a junior model with a 3.5–inch screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 single-core processor, a very weak 3-megapixel camera by all standards and a 1590 mAh battery.
Both gadgets are equipped with 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of flash memory and a microSD connector.
Recall that the main feature of Firefox OS, on which the devices will work, is that the system works completely on HTML5. This means that anyone who already makes their applications in this language for other platforms will be able to easily transfer them to Mozilla’s system. The Firefox Marketplace store is already available to Android users.
