And, indeed, such a step looks quite justified. After all, competitors have already begun to explore this niche. Let’s recall at least the Kindle Fire and the recently announced Google Nexus 7.
According to analyst Richard Shim of NPD Display Search, there is information about a business plan for the mass production of 7.85-inch panels for Apple. From other sources, information is received that the iPad Mini will be equipped with IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide)-displays that differ in smaller thickness. Such a respected resource as Bloomberg also writes about the reduced iPad model. The material published on its pages says that the diagonal of the screen of the new tablet from Apple will be in the range of 7-8 inches, and it is expected to go on sale in October this year. The cost of the new device is estimated by various analysts in the range of $ 300.
If these rumors have a real basis, we are waiting for a very interesting autumn, because at least three extremely interesting seven-inch devices will fight for a “place in the sun”: Nexus 7, Kindle Fire 2 and, in fact, iPad Mini.
