Briefly about the main “iron” events of today: Samsung shipped 60 million smartphones in the quarter, Nvidia enters the mobile device market, iPad will get 128 GB.

Samsung shipped 60 million smartphones in the quarter

The company has delivered more than 60 smartphones to the world market in three months, earning about $25 billion (4% more than in the last quarter). Most of the growth was driven by sales of the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. The Korean giant also reported that mobile devices now account for more than half of its sales.

Recall, according to Apple’s report, for the same quarter it sold 47.8 million iPhones and earned $ 54.5 billion.

Galaxy Tab 3 is just around the corner

In pursuit of the previous news. According to rumors, Samsung is preparing to introduce the third generation of Galaxy Tab tablets in as many as three versions: seven-inch, ten-inch and, surprise, eight-inch. The appearance of the latter will depend on the success of the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet on the market. It, we recall, is an attempt by Samsung to create another niche of devices – medium-sized tablets with phone functionality.

Nvidia enters the mobile device market

According to Eldar Murtazin, Nvidia has taken up the mass creation of reference mobile devices, thereby repeating its own trick with graphics cards from many years ago.

The bottom line is as follows, an American company creates a stylish, productive prototype, buys components for it, and then grants the rights to its mass production to a dozen small Chinese offices with connections with retailers in various regions of the world.

Thus, the company immediately creates a sales market for its technical solutions, and also increases competition, because it is assumed that new products will not be inferior in quality to competitive devices from leading manufacturers, but will be much cheaper.

In Russia, Nvidia solutions will be released under the Wexler and Oysters brands.

iPad will get 128 GB

And another rumor.

Based on the data extracted from the fifth beta of iOS 6.1, many of our colleagues have made the assumption that a 128 GB version of the iPad 4 will be on sale in the spring. Today, this rumor was unofficially confirmed by one of the American retailers. Apple itself is silent as usual. The approximate price of the device is unknown.
