Apple today released a press release announcing that the number of iPhone 4S pre-orders has exceeded one million per day.

This figure far exceeds the results of the first day of pre–orders for the previous smartphone model – 600 thousand copies were sold on the day of applications for the iPhone 4 last year, while taking into account the aggregate data from all Apple resellers and partners in such major markets as the USA, France, Germany, Japan and the UK.

“The first day of pre-orders for the iPhone 4S broke records for demand for all products that Apple has ever produced. We are incredibly pleased that the iPhone 4S is so popular,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s vice president of marketing.

According to Reuters, in the first 12 hours since the start of sales of the iPhone 4S, more than 200 thousand pre-orders were placed in AT&T offices alone. According to representatives of AT&T, the launch of the iPhone 4S is the most successful in financial terms compared to all previous models of “apple” smartphones. MacRumors also notes that Sprint announced on the first day of pre-order that its stock of iPhone 4S for 16 GB has already been sold out.
