According to official data, in the second quarter of 2011 Apple sold 9.3 million iPad 2 tablets. This is 6 million more than in the first quarter of this year. But despite the sales growth, the share of iPad 2 among the tablets sold decreased from 94.3% to 61%.
The decline in the share of the iPad 2 was influenced by the appearance of a large number of such mobile devices as HTC Flyer, Motorola Xoom, Samsung gadgets, as a result of which the popularity of Android increased from 3% to 33%. For comparison, the PlayBook running on the Blackberry platform occupies 3.3% of the market among devices of this kind, which is 500 thousand pieces.
