According to Flurry analysts, optimizing applications for most devices with access to as large an audience as possible is becoming an increasingly difficult task.

If we talk not about the number of devices, but about the concentration of users themselves, then about 80% of users use 7% of the devices on the market. So, in January, analysts from Flurry counted about 2,130 different models of active devices in total. That is, provided that the application is optimized for 80% of connected devices, it is necessary to adapt it to 156 different devices. Accordingly, for 60% it is necessary to take into account about 37 different devices, for 50% – already only 18 different models. Against the background of the maximum 90%, which corresponds to the indicator of 331 gadgets, the figure is more achievable.

But which devices to optimize the application for is another question. There are 14 iOS users per one active user of an Android device. In the ratio Samsung VS Apple – 1 user vs 8.
