According to the Euroset report, in the first half of 2012, 4.9 million smartphones were sold in Russia at an average price of 10.2 thousand rubles. Thus, the market in monetary terms amounted to about 49.4 billion rubles.

The company is convinced that the growth in smartphone sales is due not only to consumer preferences, but also to the formation of offers from manufacturers. Anyway, in total, compared to the first half of last year, smartphone sales were able to grow by almost 70% (2.9 million vs. 4.9). According to Viktor Lukanin, Vice President for Commerce and Marketing: “The growth rate of the share of smartphones in Russia is still lagging behind the global ones, but, nevertheless, smartphone sales have almost doubled compared to last year. I think that significant growth will continue in the second half of the year.”

As for tablets, according to Euroset estimates, about 800 thousand units have been sold in Russia over the past 6 months at an average price of 18 thousand rubles. Being at an early stage of development, the tablet market is already distinguished by the “elasticity” of demand for price: the consumer can make a choice in favor of more economical devices at the expense of the amount of internal memory, the range of the screen or the ability to use the Internet outside Wi-Fi coverage areas. Thus, relative to the previous period, the tablet market showed an increase of over 100%.
