Speaking at the Korea Games Conference in Seoul, the executive director of App Annie Bertrand Schmidt (Bertrand Schmitt) said that from January to August in South Korea, the revenue of the official Android app store grew more than six times and overtook the revenue from the App Store.

And the most interesting thing is that the number of downloads has been falling for 5 months (from February to May, stagnation was also observed in August). However, this is easy to explain. The first decline is the slow stabilization of the market after the deafening Christmas sales, the second decline is most likely due to the slowdown in the pace of active sales of Samsung Galaxy III, whose release took place in Korea back in May. The number of downloads on the iOS platform steadily fell from January to August.

(explanation to the graph: the January result was taken as a coefficient of 100)At the same time, the most interesting thing is that revenue from Google Play has been actively growing for all 8 months.

As a result, in August it was 6.3 times more than in January, significantly surpassing the revenue received by developers from the App Store. The latter, by the way, was consistently high throughout the entire period.

(explanation to the graph: the January result was taken as a coefficient of 100)Recall that at the moment, Korea, according to Distimo, is among the dozen leading countries in terms of downloads and revenue.
