Every day, 5,000 new user companies join the Google Apps platform. However, the update of the Apps Marketplace for Business shows that Google does not want to stop there.
This is the first major update of the service since its launch in 2010. It should help Google to take a more advantageous position compared to its competitors. Recall that the AppExchange services from Salesforce and AWS Marketplace from Amazon also offer cloud business applications for organizations.
Apps Marketplace features now include:
- updating security settings with OAuth 2.0 (previously used OAuth 1.0 and OpenID);
- a more accurate selection of applications that use OAuth 2.0, SSO and are integrated into at least one Google service;
- expanding administration capabilities. Now using the Admin Console, administrators can provide applications at the domain level. Previously, if a domain had 100 users, each of them needed to get their own security rights. Now if the admin logs in at the domain level, the application acquires the verified status and users have nothing to worry about.;
- user reviews that can be left only from verified accounts;
- simplified way to install applications;
- a deeper level of integration with Google Drive, Google+ and Hangouts.
According to Google, more than 20 third-party applications will be available through the Admin Console.
One of Google’s partners believes that in addition to the desire to attract more users to Google Apps, the update is aimed at ensuring the further development of third-party organizations for the benefit of the Google platform.
According to him: “Google wants to show that the B2B segment is just as important to it as B2C. If he succeeds, the company will get more users and partners.”
