Gameloft has announced an online mobile third-person shooter Blitz Brigade for iOS and Android and at the same time “quietly” closed its Indian studio in Hyderabad.
The French company continues to instill in mobile players a love for three-dimensional, conditionally, console action games with uncomfortable touch controls. Only if Gameloft used to delight with clones of Call of Duty and Halo, now the ideological heir of Team Fortress 2 is next in line. It’s not only about borrowing a recognizable style, but also multiplayer mechanics. In the new game, team members will also be offered various roles (stormtrooper, scout, sniper, medic, machine gunner). More than 100 types of weapons and the use of vehicles are promised.
Against the background of the announcement, another news passed relatively unnoticed, this time scandalous, concerning Gameloft. According to unofficial data, the company is closing its studio in India in Hyderabad and laying off its entire staff of 250 employees. Information appeared on Gamasutra that the closure is taking place in a wild hurry and is almost illegal. So far, there have been no official comments on this matter. The Hyderabad studio was porting Gameloft’s iOS games to the Android platform.
