Gameloft continues to brag. Only in July we wrote about its excellent results for the second quarter of this year, and now, the other day, the French decided to share their financial results again. This time for the first half of 2012.
So, in the first half of the year, the company earned €95.2 million. This is 24% more than in the same period of 2011. Moreover, applications for smartphones and tablets contributed 119% more profit to the piggy bank than a year ago, and their share in the total revenue structure of the company exceeded 50% for the first time. Over 60% of the turnover was accounted for by IAP and advertising.
However, Gameloft’s net profit decreased significantly from €5.3 million to €4.6 million. The company attributes this to a significant increase in spending on research and development of mobile applications, but, judging by the data presented, marketing costs have also increased.
Despite the drop in net profit, Gameloft representatives are confident that its revenues in the mobile sector will continue to grow. And the company does not intend to slow down the pace in the publication and development of the game. So, releases of about two dozen new games are planned for the second half of the year.
