According to CNET News, the Galaxy Nexus smartphone has returned to the US market, while it is available in the Google Play online store at a reduced price – $349 instead of $ 399. Its sale was suspended for a week due to Apple’s patent infringement.
The reason for the litigation was Apple’s claim of infringement in the quick search bar on the Galaxy Nexus home screen.
During the ban on the sale (on July 1, Samsung filed an appeal, which the court granted five days later), Google, which participated in the creation of the smartphone, announced that it would release a new update for the Galaxy Nexus, which would have to eliminate the violations identified by the court.
Note that another opportunity to circumvent the ban on the sale of a smartphone may be the release of the Galaxy Nexus with a new version of Android – 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Despite this, if new evidence of Apple’s patent infringement is presented to the court, sales of the Galaxy Nexus may stop again.
Recall that the companies have been suing since April 2011, since the release of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.
