On the night of November 29-30, Moscow time, it became known that the union of the two titans had collapsed. Facebook is now working with Zynga on standard terms.

According to the agreement signed by Zynga and Facebook two years ago, the developer of social games was granted a privileged position on the social network.

But a change in the terms of cooperation has been brewing for a long time. On the one hand, Zynga has started porting its games to mobile platforms. On the other hand, Facebook was unhappy with Zynga’s falling revenues.

As we wrote in October, earlier this company accounted for 63% of gaming revenue and 12% of Facebook’s total revenue. But at the end of the third quarter, revenue fell by 20% compared to the same period last year. So in the last quarter, Zynga provided the social network with only 43% of gaming revenue and 7% of total revenue.

As a result, Zynga has now lost its privileged position and is now subject to the general rules of the social network for all application developers. “We will continue to work with Zynga on the same principles as with all other developers,” a Facebook spokesperson said. Perhaps the social network is now planning to start developing its own games, according to Reuters.
