Europe is responsible for a quarter of the global mobile app economy, both in terms of consumption and production, says VisionMobile in its latest report.
In 2012 alone, Europeans brought €10.2 billion to the market. According to analysts’ forecasts, by the end of this year the figure will be even higher – €11.2 billion. This is 22% of the global market. More only in the USA.
However, Europe is currently lagging behind in the pace of development against the background of the rapid growth of the Asian, African and Latin American markets. Nevertheless, by 2016, the European application market may well grow to €15 billion.
VisionMobile also found out that 529 thousand people are currently engaged in development in Europe. 62% of them are employed directly in development. Another 180 thousand are involved in the industry as part-time workers (part-time with the main job).
Europe means the entire European Union, 28 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
