A new company, Tilting Point, created by veterans of the gaming industry, mainly from Electronic Arts, announced that over the next three years it plans to invest a solid $40 million in mobile games from independent developers.
Tilting Point is headed by Tom Frisina, who worked as vice president and general manager of EA Partners. His team also includes former EA Partners Director of Business Development Dan Sherman, ex-Zynga and EA advisor James Hsu and former EA Development Director Steve Coallier.
Tilting Point has already signed contracts with several independent development studios. Among them are Housemarque (Outland, Super Stardust HD), Signal Mobile, 1337 Game Design (Devil’s Attorney, Dark Nebula). The first games for smartphones and tablets created as part of this project will be released this year.
“We believe that the future belongs to independent developers,” Tom Frisina also stressed in the official press release of Tilting Point. Recall that Tom previously also headed thatgamecompany, responsible for creating such arthouse hits as flOw, Flower and Journey.
