A sequel to Draw Something is in development. Zynga is confident that the sequel will not only be much more successful than the original, but will also have a good level of user retention, which means a good LTV.

The first mention of Draw Something 2 appeared on Twitter of the well-known US TV presenter Ryan Seacrest (Ryan Seacrest). Without options, it was a calculated advertising move. Ryan commented on the first screenshot of the new game, which depicted Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey.

After the tweet caused a stir, the development of Draw Something 2 was confirmed by the current vice president of Zynga, Dan Porter. Recall that it was he who last year sold Pinkus his own OMGPOP, which developed the original version of the social crocodile, for $ 180 million.

For Zynga itself, this deal was one of the most unsuccessful in history. Immediately after the takeover of OMGPOP, the popularity of Draw Something began to decline. In fact, Pinkus acquired the team at the very peak of his fame. A month later, it could have been bought for much less money.

Anyway, not so long ago Draw Something celebrated breaking the 100 million downloads limit. The MAU of the project today is 5 million. In other words, the project is alive. And, apparently, the developers still see potential in it.

The new Draw Something, according to TechCrunch, will not just be a game, but also a kind of social network or even, rather, an Instagram service. Users will have galleries of drawings that will no longer disappear after gaming sessions. Apparently, you can even like the work of your friends.

This will help not only the virality of the new product, but along with other features that have not yet been announced, it will most likely increase user retention. Which, in fact, is what Zynga is hoping for.
