Not so long ago, we wrote about the possible appearance of new Nexus tablets on the market at a record low price of $99. The rumors are beginning to be confirmed.
The DigiTimes portal, with its favorite link to unnamed sources, writes that a new budget tablet from Google and Nexus will be on sale in the first quarter of 2013. Moreover, the company O-Film Tech has already started to supply screens for them.
The displays of the new devices are made using GFF (glass-film-film) technology, which, according to the same rumors, not only reduces the cost of tablet production, but will also reduce the width of gadgets.
The price for the new Nexus may just be $99, although, according to Digitimes, analysts do not believe that Google and Asus will “pull” such a tablet in 2013. Rather, it will cost about $129-149.
Gadget manufacturers are going to mainly sell in emerging markets. Global shipments at the time of release will range from 500 to 600 thousand devices.
