The results of a study conducted by Kendo UI, a company specializing in JavaScript and HTML5 development services, indicate that developers’ interest in HTML5 is only growing.
82% of those surveyed by the company said that HTML5 will play an important role in their activities next year. 63% of respondents have already made/are making applications based on this technology, and 6% of those who do not use it intend to introduce HTML5 into their “arsenal” in the next 1-2 years.
The survey participants named familiarity with HTML, JavaScript and CSS as the most “popular” reason for using HTML5 (73%). 62% believe that cross-platform support is a very attractive factor.
Recall that not so long ago Mark Zuckerberg said that using HTML5 for Facebook applications was one of the company’s serious mistakes. However, the opinion of the celebrity had little effect on the attitude of developers to HTML5. Only 14% of respondents actively working with this technology admitted that after Zuckerberg’s words, their “level of trust” in HTML5 decreased. Moreover, 14% of respondents belonging to the same group indicated an increase in their interest in using this technology for mobile projects.
More than 4,000 developers took part in the survey.
By the way, today the W3C Web Standardization Consortium announced that the process of forming HTML5 specifications has been completed. Now the process of testing them has begun. As soon as it ends, the HTML5 specifications are recognized as a standard.
