The company Stainless Games today released the iOS version of the cult bloody race. On the first day after the release, the game is distributed for free.
One of the most popular and violent games of the late 90s received a registration on the App Store. It was ported to the iOS platform by the authors of the original game – veterans from Stainless Games, who recently noted a very decent multiplatform version of Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013.
Mobile Carmageddon was born largely thanks to the Kickstarter service.
The story is as follows: about a year ago Stainless Games started working on the third part of the racing game. The problem was that the studio had no official rights to the name. They belonged to Square Enix. The studio did not have the funds to purchase them. Investors, in turn, were not interested in the project. So it was decided to contact the players directly through the Kickstarter service.
As a result, in a month the company gained $625 thousand instead of the required $400 thousand and bought out the franchise. The developers were so impressed with the user support that they decided, together with the development of a full-fledged sequel to Carmageddon, to adapt the original 1997 game to mobile devices. And now, almost six months after the end of the Kickstarter campaign, the developers presented the mobile Carmageddon.
The price of the app is $1.99. The project will be released on Android before the end of this year. The release of the full-fledged third part of Carmageddon: Reincarnation is scheduled for PC in the first quarter of 2013.
By the way, we have already got a little familiar with Carmageddon on iOS. The project looks great on Retina and is played cheerfully.
