Today, the second part of Disney’s main mobile hit – Where’s My Water? – appeared in the App Store.

There were rumors that she would appear at the end of August. Then we were very surprised, because the release of the successful Where’s My Mickey? it took place only in June. Why release, in fact, the fourth game in the Where’s My franchise?, if the third was released less than six months ago?

The Mickey Mouse game was among the top three paid apps in the American App Store for more than a month (estimated at metacritic.com – 86 points). The box office figures are more modest, but still decent: until the end of July, the game was in the top 60 box office projects on the iPhone App Store US Overall.

Now her indicators are going down. The reason is the complete lack of updates and new packs since the release.

It turns out that Disney is abandoning one successful project (albeit obsolete, because the mechanics of Where’s My Mickey? not different from the mechanics of the original Where’s My Water? 2011) for the sake of potentially another successful project?

What for?

The only relatively sane explanation is Disney’s desire to celebrate the brand’s two–year anniversary with the release of a sequel that rethinks the original mechanics, contains a sea of new features and corresponds to the time, current trends.

A laudable decision that makes no sense from a business point of view?
