Another game news. Again about quests, again about classics. Revolution Software company, led by its permanent head Charles Cecil, has announced its intention to develop a sequel to the cult cyberpunk adventure Beneath a Steel Sky. The game will be released on iOS, Android and PC.
Initially, Cecil claimed that he would take up the development of a sequel only if his current project is Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse – will raise from one million dollars or more on Kickstarter. The project did not manage this amount.
According to the results of monthly fees, the Kickstarter piggy bank of the fifth part of Broken Sword turned out to be $ 771 thousand. Not so little, considering that Cecil asked for $ 400 thousand for development. So the developers decided that they would still do the second part of Beneath a Steel Sky after The Serpent’s Curse.
The first part of “Steel Heaven” was released in 1994 and told the story of a guy named Robert. Raised by the aborigines of Australia, but captured by the soldiers of one of the corporations, he finds himself in Union City, an almost classic cyberpunk city, where he tries to uncover the secret of his origin.
The graphics for the game were drawn by Dave Gibbons, Alan Moore’s co-author on The Guardians. By the way, Gibbons is currently working at Revolution Software.
It is unknown when Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will be released.
