According to the latest data from the analytical company Azimco, Apple and Samsung controlled 99% of the mobile industry’s profits in the third quarter, but Apple’s share declined significantly.

Analysts of Azimco, calculating the position of mobile phone manufacturers in the market, take only official data from companies reporting their income.

The number of companies working in plus includes only 4 vendors: Apple, Samsung, HTC and LG. The role of the latter two in the mobile industry is insignificant, so it turns out that the leaders account for almost all of the income from the entire global market – 98.59%.

But if, according to a report six months ago, of these 99%, Apple accounted for 73% of revenue, and Samsung earned 26%. Now Apple’s share has decreased to 60.06%, and Samsung has 38.53%.

Moreover, despite the overall growth of the market and income from it, not only Apple’s share of the total profit from the market has decreased, but also the figure itself in monetary terms. If according to the results of the first quarter of 2012, the Apple company earned $14.4 billion, the second quarter – $10.5 billion, then in this quarter its revenues amounted to only $7.95 billion.

Perhaps sales of the iPhone 5 will be able to regain the company’s lost positions. But, according to rumors, Samsung has already planned the presentation of the Galaxy S IV smartphone for the beginning of 2013.
