The Apple company reported on the results of the first fiscal quarter of 2013, which it accounts for the fourth calendar quarter of 2012.
In the last three months of last year, Apple earned a record amount of $54.5 billion for it (the company received $7.3 billion from China alone). This is significantly more than the results of the 1st quarter of 2012. Then the company received “only” $46.3 billion. However, revenue remained the same – $13.1 billion.
Something else is alarming. The difference between revenue and the cost of products sold has seriously decreased: from 44.7% to 38.6%. Although this was quite expected, given the appearance of the iPad mini on the market, the price of which was closer to the cost price than most Apple products.
Despite this, the average weekly revenue of the company was $4.2 billion. This is $0.9 billion more than a year earlier.
However, first of all, we were interested in sales directly. They were record breaking. In just 13 weeks, Apple managed to sell 47.8 million iPhones (almost 11 million more than in the same period of 2012), 22.9 million iPads (7.5 million more). The number of iPad mini sold separately from the iPad is unknown. As for the various versions of iPods, their sales have seriously declined. From 15.4 million to 12.7 million.
Well, at the end, a couple of the most important figures. To date, more than 500 million iOS devices have been activated, the number of Game Center users has exceeded 200 million, and 2 billion downloads from iOS were made in December alone.
