According to the results of the third quarter of this year, Apple took second place among US mobile device manufacturers, overtaking LG, comScore analysts found out.
Let us immediately explain that the results of the study included generalized data on mobile phones and smartphones.
Samsung has retained its leading position among manufacturers, it owns just over a quarter of the market – 26.3%. But Apple managed to rise to second place due to a 1.5% increase in market share (probably due to the iPhone 5 entering the market this quarter) and a 0.8% drop in LG’s position. Now manufacturers are separated from each other by only 0.2%.
comScore also assessed the position of mobile operating systems in the American market. More than half of the market belongs to the OS from Google – 53.6% (share growth by 1.4%). More than a third of the market is owned by Cupertinos – 34.3% (quarterly growth of 0.9%). RIM, which is losing its position, closes the top three mobile platforms – 7.8%. Also, the share of operating systems from Microsoft and Symbian is decreasing in the US market, now they own 3.2% and 0.6%, respectively.
