The weekend starts tomorrow, a time for rest and, of course, games. We have prepared a short material in which we briefly went through the main releases of this week.

Deus Ex: The Fall

Making an honest continuation of a console project on mobile platforms is a test. The developers from N-Fusion and Eidos Monreal passed it with honor. The players got a real Deus Ex, with a great plot, conditional variability of passage, excellent graphics.

The question is how much a hardcore third-person shooter on iOS was needed. We all understand that the audience of mobile devices is maturing, there are more and more gamers among them, but, on the other hand, it is still inconvenient to control shooting and moving a character simultaneously on smartphones and tablets. In addition, a training mission that lasts about 15 minutes is too much.

There is a feeling that the developers felt that in changing the “big” platforms to “small” everything rests only on the UI and the technical part. But this is not so.

If you approach the project with a different line, then Deus Ex: The Fall, of course, is a real blockbuster. Big, bright, surprisingly, not stupid (although, with the development of characters there is trouble) and very atmospheric. It’s just a pity that you can’t connect a mouse and keyboard to the iPad. It would still be more convenient.

Tiny Thief

The second publishing project is Rovio Stars. And also a puzzle.

However, when it comes to gameplay, for some reason analogies with the related Deus Ex hardcore game Thief come to mind. In the latter, it was necessary to wait for a guard to pass by, then climb into someone’s estate, steal everything of value and get out before the guards spotted it.

So, Tiny Thief is about the same thing. Only in 2D and with bright cartoon graphics.

In other words, the mechanics of the classic Deus Ex in The Fall, for example, were transferred directly, and in the case of Tiny Thief everything is much thinner – only the idea was taken.

If every developer with a console source would work this way, there would be much more good games in the App Store.

Another vivid impression remaining from the game is a large budget.

The number of different characters, unique menus at the end of each mission, a high number of details – you look at the project and think: “How much was poured into it!”.

The overall impression is very positive. But, unfortunately, there is no question of any replayability here. I watched a funny comic, passed the level by three stars, went further.

City Cat

A cheerful runner from Nevosoft about a red-haired Pixel cat catching up with a refrigerator that was dragged away by aliens on a gravitational beam. The main feature is the presence of full–fledged tournaments with friends.

Sprinkle Islands

A three-dimensional continuation of a cute physical puzzle from Mediocre. The task is to use a jet of water to extinguish the sources of fire at the level.

Dive for Treasures

The uniqueness of Dive for Treasures, a project in which the player controls a submarine, collects treasures and fights pirate submarines – in management. There are two, roughly speaking, steering wheels. One is responsible for the speed of lifting / sinking of the vessel, the other for the speed of travel (forward / backward). It will not work to move quickly: there are a lot of ledges at the bottom, into which you need to go down for coins, you have to constantly turn the handlebars in different directions. It doesn’t sound very exciting, but the gameplay of the developers from Eccentricity turned out to be very intense (in a good way).

Pacific Rim

A clone of Infinity Blade wrapped in a summer blockbuster. The value of such products, given that the second part of the original game is distributed nearby for free, and the graphics are far from the concept of “stunning”, tends to zero. On the other hand, for those who did not have enough robots and giant monsters in the film, it is the most.

Ravenmark: Mercanaries

A continuation of the turn-based strategy Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellon has been released. We didn’t play the first part, but the second one suffers from all the diseases of budget TBS: gray nondescript graphics and not the friendliest UI. Although, on the other hand, this is clearly not the genre in which such things play a big role.

Iesabel

Polish developers from Forever Entertainment S.A. on Wednesday released a clone of Diablo immediately on Mac, iOS and Google Play. Considering that the versions are identical graphically and in gameplay, the project can be called a breakthrough in some sense. Another thing is that the game is nothing. Everything is like in Diablo, only worse. For this reason, the installation is shown only to those who are nostalgic for the cult series.
