The total revenue of Android apps for 2013 will double, according to analysts at ABI Research in their latest forecast.

Android revenue will jump from 59.1% to 65.9% compared to iOS app revenue over the past 12 months. And although Apple earns significantly more from its content so far, this situation may not last long.

As ABI chief analyst Josh Flood noted, by the end of this year, the ratio of Android smartphones to iPhones will be three to one. It is logical to assume that along with the growth of active devices, revenue from applications will also increase.

However, Google’s operating system will “crush” the “Apple” competitor not only by the number of devices put on the market.

Another key factor in increasing revenue from applications to the OS is advertising. According to ABI analysts, Android digital advertising, based on Google’s powerful search engine, is much more effective than the tools that Apple works with (they say targeting is better).

In the future, Android’s willingness to switch to accepting payments for applications through mobile operators may also play an important role. This will immediately significantly increase revenue from Latin America and the Asian market.
