It is well known that one of the main problems of the App Store and Google Play today is the findability of applications. Because of this, both developers and users suffer.

The first are not able to make money on their own applications, which are among thousands of other programs, the second can be difficult to find those applications that they like.

On the Amazon Appstore, this problem was solved a long time ago. As in the eponymous online store, the user is shown projects similar to those that he has already bought or to which he has read the description.

In other words, there is the main feature (the free app of the day or, if by category, the program that the editors of the store liked), there is a standard opportunity to see the most downloaded free apps, new apps or bestsellers, there is a New and Featured category, as well as, attention, the Apps for You category. The latter contains a selection of applications, which is formed based on my activity in the store.

For example, I looked at the description of Vampireville Lite: haunted castle adventure. The next time I visit the store page, I am offered to download this game and several others that coincide with it both in genre and setting.

Pocket Gamer journalists wondered why Apple and Google didn’t adopt this model? But no matter who they asked it to at NY Games Con, no one could answer.

However, there is one point. On Google Play, the “Recommend” section works in a similar way, but, to be honest, it is far from the effectiveness of the Amazon Appstore. But why Apple is not looking at such a model is really a big question.

What do you think about it?
