Sony Mobile has officially announced its intention to reduce costs and improve the operational efficiency of the division by laying off some of its employees.
In total, the company plans to reduce about 1,000 people (this is 15% of the entire Sony mobile division) and move its headquarters to Tokyo (now it is located in Sweden, in the city of Lund). As for the Swedish representative office, it will specialize in software for Android smartphones. These activities are planned to be completed by October this year.
Sony has previously stated that it plans to reduce the number of staff by 6%, including cuts in Sony Mobile. The management sincerely hopes to return the company to profitability in this way. Recall that at the end of last year Sony showed a huge loss of $ 5.8 billion. After that, its management announced that the company was going into austerity mode.
