According to analysts from the NPD Group, the share of mobile players from the total number of American gamers today is 22%. According to this indicator, mobile has overtaken the former leader – console games.

This is evidenced by the results of the study Gamer Segmentation 2012: The New Faces of Gamers.

In total, today in the United States, experts from NPD have counted about 211.5 million gamers, which is 5% lower than last year’s figure. The entire array of players was divided into several categories: “console”, “mobile”, “digital” (that is, playing online and downloadable games), “children + family”, “hardcore PC games” and “light PC games”.

It should be noted that according to the NPD study, growth compared to last year was observed only among “digital” and “mobile” players, and it is mobile that boasts the best dynamics. In 2011, its share was 13%, and now, as mentioned above, 22%.
