CIRP specialists insist on this, having conducted a small study among American buyers.

Analysts also said that:

  • 42% of American Apple users switched to iPhone from another iPhone;
  • 43% of Samsung users have used a different Android background before;
  • Samsung’s device became the first smartphone for 37% of people who previously owned a regular cell phone (Apple has 26% of such);
  • Among those users who changed their previous brands: 33% of Samsung users switched to Apple, only 11% to Samsung from Apple. By the way, Samsung stole the most users from HTC, Motorola and Nokia. Apple, in turn, attracted those who used to use BlackBerry;
  • the share of affluent users among iPhone users is significantly higher than among Samsung fans.

Conclusions should not be drawn here. And so everything is clear. It’s just a pity that it can’t be compared with some other market.

The study was conducted in the USA from July 2012 to June this year. It was attended by 500 people who bought a mobile phone in the last 90 days, relative to the date of the survey.
