In three months, the number of registered Unity developers has increased by 200 thousand, and has grown to 2 million.

The catalyst for growth was undoubtedly the appearance of a free basic license for mobile developers last May. Now any company with an annual income of less than $100 thousand can develop and distribute games on the Unity engine for free.

A screenshot from the Mothhead demo made by the Unity internal teamIt is curious: out of 2 million registered developers, only 400 thousand developers actively use the toolkit (every month).

The rest, apparently, are only looking at the “flame engine”.

By the way, a year ago Unity announced about 1 million registered users.
