Together with our industry colleagues, we continue to summarize the results of 2013. This article contains an interview with Alawar.

Alawar CEO Alexander Lyskovsky answered the questions.

Alexander Lyskovsky

What event/trend would you call the key event in the outgoing year in the mobile applications and games industry?

This year, the phenomenon of messengers has manifested itself especially vividly. This year, they have reached a huge number of users – more than half a billion people. And this year it became clear that now messenger users not only send messages and call for free, but also play what their messenger offers them.

What would you call the main event for your company this year?

This year, we continued to rebuild our business processes in order to publish large f2p projects. This was the main trend in Alawar, and therefore the main events for us are the December technical releases of our new f2p projects: Epic Forces, Dunwitch Duels, The Mystery of Dragon Isle, Farm Frenzy Inc. We also started distributing the Montezuma Blitz f2p project on local sites with leading local partners.

In 2013, we also entered into a number of strategic partnerships. One of the most significant for us is the release of the RPG game Gang. "Kings of the Streets" for iOS and Android in partnership with the Korean company Com2uS. Now we can say with confidence that the game has already gathered a large group of fans and shows consistently high results.

Please name one or two games (not from your company) that you can call the best projects on mobile platforms based on the results of the outgoing year.

The best new game of this year is Candy Crush Saga. But if you choose among all the games, and not only those that came out this year, then, of course, the leader of the last "mobile five–year plan" is Clash of Clans.

Thanks for the interview!
