Midcore continues to amaze. Yesterday, January 28, Kabam studio, known for the Kingdoms of Camelot strategy, which is not the most friendly to users, announced that in 2012 its gross revenue increased by 70% and amounted to more than $ 180 million.

The studio earned about $100 million of them from its three main mobile hits: the already mentioned Kingdoms of Camelot, Arcane Empires and The Hobbit. The latter two, like most Kabam social projects, are clones of Camelot, which appeared on Facebook four years ago.

What is her secret?

The company does not try to reach as large an audience as possible with its products, does not work for a stereotypical housewife of 35 years. Kabam focuses on a very narrow male audience that is ready to play and spend more on games than ordinary users play and spend on them.

The studio works very closely with its audience, regularly releases updates, and most of its products differ from each other only graphically. There are vampires in one project, dragons in another, spaceships in the third, and so on.

This approach allows the company to grow rapidly, and at the same time deprives it of obvious risks.

Another important feature of Kabam is its flexibility. She quickly changes priorities. For example, a year ago, 100% of the company’s revenue was brought by Facebook. Today, this share, as it is easy to calculate, is less than 50%.

According to the company’s representatives, the average ARPDAU of its games is eight to nine times higher than that of the leaders of the mobile market. Each of its seven mobile games earns more than $1 million a month.
