The Grant for the Web Foundation has allocated a sum for the organization The Defold Foundation, which is responsible for the development of the Defold game engine.

Grant for the Web is a non—standard fund with a capital of $100 million. It is supported by three companies — Coil, Creative Commons and Mozilla. The task of the foundation is just to help in the popularization and development of Web Monetization.
We are talking about a special API, the implementation of which allows content authors to earn money without subscriptions, content distribution through third-party services and advertising.
The Defold Foundation hopes that after the introduction of Web Monetization into the engine, HTML5 game developers, who today have problems with both findability and monetization, will have new, alternative financial channels.
