Video games have long been included in the educational process: they teach chemistry, mathematics and other disciplines. But for the first time in history, the game was included in the recommended reading list. Such an achievement managed to get This War of Mine from the Polish 11 bit Studios.

The author of the idea is the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki (Mateusz Morawiecki). According to him, the game will be useful for schoolchildren who study sociology, ethics, philosophy and history. This is reported by the GamesIndustry portal.

The studio-developer of This War of Mine itself responded enthusiastically to the Prime Minister’s proposal.

“I am proud to say that the work of 11 bit Studios will contribute to the development of education and culture in our country,” said Grzegorz Miechowski, head of 11 bit Studios

The game will be distributed for free and will be available in schools across the country from September. But only high school students who are at least 18 years old will be able to get it.

This War of Mine is a survival simulator for civilians trapped in besieged Sarajevo during the civil war in Yugoslavia. Initially, the game was released only on PC, but then appeared on other platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, iOS and Android. There is also a board game version.
