Vivox will continue to operate independently as a subsidiary of Unity.
Vivox has been added to the list of Unity assets. It is a creator of cross-platform chats for 3D voice and text communication. They are integrated into 125 games, including Fortnite and PUBG, writes Gamasutra.
It is not known how much the purchase of Vivox cost. There are no other details about the deal either. It is only known that Unity promised Vivox the opportunity to work independently of it. Founder Rob Seaver (Rom Seaver) will remain its head.
Unity wants to offer Vivox technologies to game developers for different platforms. This is especially true for mobile. According to Siver, Unity’s extensive experience in cross-platform technologies will facilitate integration.
