The Next Web resource tried to figure out which engines dominate the gaming market. The result was predictable.

Unity 3D was named the leading game engine.
Two studies confirm leadership at once. The first was conducted by the authors of Unity 3D themselves. According to their calculations, the engine owns 45% of the market, 38% – other solutions in the aggregate, and 17 – “closest rivals”.
The “nearest rival” is not called by name. According to The Next Web, it is most likely Unreal Engine. Experts of the statistical portal Statista agree with the opinion, who consider Unreal Engine to be the second most popular engine on the market.
Another study belongs to Develop Online. As part of the Develop 100 project, it turned out that 62% of the surveyed developers use Unity. For comparison, 47% of respondents use their own solutions, and Unreal Engine is preferred by 12% of respondents.
