The new multiplayer shooter from Riot Games has become an event on Twitch. More than 1.7 million viewers watched the launch of the closed beta of Valorant yesterday. This is one of the record peaks in the entire history of the service.
The launch of the Valorant beta has entered the top three most viewed streams on Twitch. Each of these events had over 1.7 million viewers:
- Microsoft Conference at E3 2018;
- The final of the League of Legends 2019 World Championship;
- the start of the closed beta of Valorant.
Moreover, before the peak of League of Legends, the Valorant shooter lacked only 20 thousand viewers. The most watched Fortnite tournament was completely left behind (its result was 1.6 million viewers).
Beta Valorant also helped Twitch update its own online record. Yesterday there were 4 million viewers on the site at the same time. Almost half of them came for Valorant. The second most viewed game of the day was CS:GO (total 200 thousand viewers).
Note that during the broadcasts of the game on Twitch, Riot Games distributed access keys to the closed beta.
