TiMi Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent, has an office in Montreal. The new studio will develop a multiplatform AAA game with an open world. In the future, based on this project, a full-fledged game metaverse from TiMi Studios may appear.

TiMi Montréal is the company’s third studio in North America. The other two are in Los Angeles and Seattle.

Montreal was not chosen by chance. According to the agency Montréal International, which cooperates with the studio, more than 15 thousand people who are connected with the video game industry work in the city. There are also tax incentives for developers in Canada. The international director of TiMi Studios Vincent Gao (Vincent Gao) noted that the new studio does not want to miss such opportunities.

The TiMi Montréal team has already been joined by former employees of Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Rockstar Games, Bethesda, Behavior Interactive and other large companies. It is not known exactly how many people are in it, but the studio management expects to form “a significant team due to the nature of the game that the studio will start working on.”

TiMi Montréal will develop an AAA title for consoles and other platforms. It will also help with the support of previously released games.

Every TiMi team in North America contributes to the development strategy of the entire company. We believe in a future in which metaverses will come to the forefront of the gaming industry, as well as dozens of AAA games of different genres that will top the charts. Although it is too early to talk about creating a full-fledged metaverse, we are thinking about it and trying to figure it out. Now TiMi Montréal will focus on an open-world AAA game. This will help us gain experience in developing social mechanics, as well as creating digital worlds and experiences that encourage players to discover and explore.

Recall that a month ago TiMi Studios announced the launch of a new office in Seattle. It will join the existing branch and open before the end of 2021. This office plans to develop a multiplatform shooter based on Unreal Engine 5.
