The game studio created by Wizards of the Coast has a name and a purpose. The Archetype Entertainment team is working on an RPG in a sci-fi setting.
In April App2Top.ru he reported on the creation of a then-unnamed studio. It was headed by game designer James Ohlen, a veteran of BioWare. At one time, he worked on her projects such as Baldur’s Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire and Dragon Age.
Olen is not the only native of BioWare in Archetype Entertainment.
- The second head of the studio was Chad Robertson (Chad Robertson). Previously, he worked in the BioWare Austin division and was involved in the development of Anthem. He is now Vice President and General Manager of Archetype.
- Mass Effect screenwriter Drew Karpyshyn also joined Archetype as a narrative director.
Nevertheless, the team looks incomplete: Archetype has yet to hire employees for many positions. Including an art director and a character artist, gameplay specialists, animators and others. In the coming years, the studio’s debut game should not be expected.
By the way, little is known about it, except for the setting and orientation. The project is being developed for various platforms. In addition, Wizards of the Coast has given Archetype a mandate to create new IP. Therefore, the new game will not be based on any existing brand.
“We will not miss the amazing opportunities and challenges that we faced when opening a new world-class gaming studio. We rely on the experience and talent of our team to create what we think will be a long—awaited new generation of narrative role-playing games,” said Robertson.
