Tencent is once again investing in the West. The publishing house was supported by the German studio Yager Development.

The Cycle
It is not known how much the Chinese giant has invested in the developer.

But, as VentureBeat writes, this investment by Yager Development will be enough for:

  • further independent publication of their games;
  • polishing the shooter The Cycle, released in the Epic Games Store.

Tencent has essentially become a strategic investor in the studio. He will provide her with his resources and some of his own developments, as well as an expert assessment of projects.

In recent years, Yager has been striving to enter the segment of free-play games-services. The Cycle is just an example of such a game. Therefore, the studio believes that Tencent’s experience in this field will be useful to them.

Yager is best known for the shooter Spec Ops: The Line for PC and the previous generation of consoles. In 2012, the game was published by 2K. The project received mostly positive reviews and several awards, but became a commercial failure. Later, the publisher admitted that the game did not meet his expectations.

Tencent is increasingly investing in Western studios. In January, it was reported that the giant is ready to buy out the entire Funcom. Previously, he received shares in Activision Blizzard, Sumo Group, Epic Games and smaller companies.
