Tencent has closed PUBG Mobile in China. For a whole year, the shooter has not received permission from the local authorities to monetize.
According to Reuters, today the Chinese media giant stopped testing PUBG Mobile. The game will not have a full-fledged release in China. For some unknown reason, the Chinese authorities have not yet issued her a license giving her the right to make a profit using monetization mechanics.
But the license was obtained by another Tencent title — Game for Peace. This is also a “battle royale”. Now the publisher is promoting it instead of PUBG Mobile. It got to the point that when the famous battle royale is launched, users see an announcement of the open beta of Game for Peace on the screen.
China has no problem issuing a license to the new product from Tencent, as it is, according to Gamesindustry.biz, called less violent in comparison with PUBG. The reason is that Game for Peace is dedicated to the fight against terrorism.
Despite the huge popularity of PUBG Mobile in the world, it has been very unlucky in some markets lately. This spring, Iraq and Nepal, as well as individual Indian cities, imposed a ban on it.
