Square Enix, as part of its Collective project, allowed indie developers to use some of the IP of its Eidos company.
The franchises that the company has given to developers are Gex, Fear Effect and Anachronox.
In an address to the Collective audience, Square Enix management noted that there are no restrictions in the genre of the game based on the mentioned IP.
To launch the project, the developer will need to get preliminary approval of his idea from the management of Square Enix Collective. Then the game will be presented to the community. The general vote will last 28 days, after which, according to the results, Square Enix will decide whether to give the project a go or not.
If the decision is made in favor of the project, then a campaign to raise funds for its implementation will be launched on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
To the logical question – why Square Enix itself does not sponsor the creation of the game by its IP – the company’s management answers as follows: “Independent developers will have to create the game themselves – they will receive the most benefits from its implementation.”
Square Enix will advise developers at all stages, and then become a distributor of the finished game. The company will take 5% of the fees on crowdfunding platforms, 10% of the profit from sales and 10% for the rights to use intellectual property
The management of Square Enix promised that, depending on the results, it could provide developers with access to several more IP addresses.

The mechanism of interaction with it is as follows: the developer submits the idea to the community. If the users of the platform approve the project, then it receives the publishing support of Square Enix. The game is funded from funds raised by the developer independently on Kickstarter and/or Indiegogo.
