Sony will release Project Field, an interactive whiteboard for board card games. The device is designed to “change the approach to card games.”
Project Field is a panel with infrared sensors, backlight and Bluetooth. The board exchanges signals about the position of cards and the actions of players with a tablet or smartphone with a game specially sharpened for the device.
In fact, Project Field is an additional link between the player and the smartphone. The game process looks the same as in a standard card battler, only instead of virtual cards, the player puts real ones on the device. After that, they are displayed on the screen of a tablet or smartphone.
So far, there is only one game for Project Field – Yo-kai Watch. The device is available in Japan, the world release date is not called.
