One studio launched by a journalist has become more. The founder and host of the “Disgusting Men” podcast, Peter Salnikov, announced his retirement from development. In his Book Burner Games studio, he will create a tactical role-playing game. By the way, the team is open to investment proposals.

Peter SalnikovSalnikov told about the opening of Book Burner Games yesterday on his social networks.

He will cease to be the host of the podcast, but will continue to be engaged in sales and development of the business part of the Disgusting Men project.

The rest of the time he will devote to the Book Burner Games studio, where he will act as a creative director and will be responsible for the soundtrack and music supervision.

“Our debut game has been in active development for about six months, and then it, like the team, will only grow and expand,” Salnikov said.

So far, there are no other details about the first Book Burner Games project. In social networks, the team promises to share details and materials on the game soon.

We also asked Peter Salnikov a couple of questions about his new studio.

Peter Salnikov, Founder and Creative Director of Book Burner GamesApp2Top.ru : Is Book Burner Games a Russian startup or will it officially be located abroad?

Peter Salnikov: We are not a startup or a business yet. So far we are just a team that makes the game. Of course, we are thinking about the legal part of the issue, but this is all waiting for us a little later. We are not ready to talk about it yet.

App2Top.ru : Is there an opportunity to share who became an investor in the studio, as well as who else is involved in the development?

Peter: Now the team consists of seven people. Partly they are representatives of the creative team of Disgusting Men, and partly they are industry professionals who have moved to us from other studios. At the moment, we are financing the development on our own and are in no hurry to sell. But we are open to suggestions.

***Pyotr Salnikov started his career as a gaming journalist in such publications as PC Games, Kanobu and GmBox.

He is best known as the co-founder and host of the podcasts “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Disgusting Men”.

Hell‘s Kitchen was launched back in 2010 together with Viktor Zuev and Georgy Dobrodeev. In 2012, the podcast was closed, after which the website and the Disgusting Men podcast were founded, where, over time, Andrei Zagudaev took Dobrodeev’s place as a presenter.

In addition, Peter Salnikov has repeatedly participated in writing music for video games. Among his most famous works are “Mount & Blade: Fire and Sword“, Sin Slayers and “Saboteurs: Vietnam“. Salnikov is also the author of the podcast The House of The Dev, which he hosts together with Raphael Colantonio, founder of Arkane Studios.

By the way, studios are rarely founded by gaming journalists. One of the most striking examples of recent times in the CIS is the launch of the Minsk Weappy studio by Ilya Yanovich, who worked for a long time in Igromania. An illustrative Western example is Mike Rose, a British journalist who launched the indie publishing house No More Robots.
