Sega Corporation bought the independent studio Demiurge Studios, creators of the mobile game Marvel Puzzle Quest. The amount of the transaction is not called.
Sega Executive Director Minoru Iwaki said that the purchase of the studio, along with investments in several other companies, is part of the company’s strategy to conquer the western mobile market.
Sega has invested in the London studio Space Ape Games, whose Samurai Siege game the corporation publishes in Japan, and in the studio Ignited Artists. The latter has not yet published a single project – the first release is expected in the fall.
Sega Network will continue to expand into the western mobile games market in the future. It is planned to keep the focus on shareware games. The company is going to announce several new IP addresses. In addition, Sega will support the development of brands already owned by the company.
