PopCap co-founder and CEO John Vechey is leaving his post after 15 years of work.
John Vechi does not disclose the reasons for his departure, but he willingly shares his plans for the future. He is going to devote more time to his family, and will also take up his new non-profit project. On his LinkedIn page, the former CEO of PopCap reports that he has already created a small studio together with “close friends.”
Interestingly, Vechi’s departure from the post of CEO is not the only significant reshuffle in the leadership of EA. Earlier this year, the company was left by the founders of Chillingo and Criterion Studio, as well as the second co-founder of the studio and its CFO, Robert Chamberlain. By the way, Chamberlain was immediately appointed CFO at Big Fish.
Recall that PopCap studio is known for a whole galaxy of world-famous projects: the game Bejeweled, Peggle and, of course, Plants vs. Zombies. In 2011, EA bought the studio for $750 million.
