The developer of Modern Pick, whose shares have recently received Mail.Ru Group, has agreed to purchase the British studio Slightly Mad Studios. She is known for restarting Need for Speed and Project CARS.
As a number of sources told Vedomosti, the studios have already secured the agreement in writing. There are no details about the future deal.
Slightly Mad Studios’ portfolio includes about 150 projects, including very well-known AAA (such as Need for Speed). She also worked on the creation of the multiplayer game World of Speed — by the way, in partnership with Mail.Ru Group. The project reached the PTA, but was closed by the publisher last year.
Modern Pick is a developer of little—known racing projects. He is also the licensor of the Armata Project game and the owner of a controlling stake in ESforce esports organization. Since both assets are associated with Mail.Ru The Group, probably Modern Pick, was originally its affiliated legal entity.
The official statement about the publisher’s purchase of a stake in Modern Pick was released last week (read more here). As Vedomosti points out, the details of that deal initially included the future acquisition of Slightly Mad Studios.
